Site Setup & Electrical/Network Guide

This section offers detailed instructions for setting up the Snowflake 3D printer’s network connectivity, electrical connections, and installation site.

Step 1: Site Setup #

1. Place the Snowflake 3D Printer on a stable, flat, and vibration-free surface.

2. Ensure a minimum clearance of 20–30 cm around the printer for ventilation and easy maintenance.

3. Maintain ambient temperature between 5°C and 45°C with relative humidity below 70%.

4. Avoid locations exposed to direct sunlight, dust, or moisture.

5. Keep the workspace organised and free from obstructions, tools, and debris.

Step 2: Electrical Setup #

1. Verify that the power supply matches the printer’s rating (AC 220V ±10%, 50/60 Hz).

2. Use only the original Fracktal Works power cord and power adapter provided in the package.

3. Connect the power cable to the printer’s 5A power input port located on the rear panel.

4. Plug the opposite end into a grounded wall socket or surge-protected power strip.

5. Flip the main power switch on the printer to the ‘ON’ position to confirm functionality (LCD display lights up).

6. If the printer fails to power on, verify the fuse and power cord integrity before contacting support.

Step 3: Cable Management #

1. Route all power and data cables neatly to prevent tangling or tripping hazards.

2. Use cable ties or clips to secure loose cables along the workbench.

3. Keep power and data cables separated to reduce electrical interference.

4. Ensure that no cable is stretched or under tension during printer operation.

Step 4: Network Setup (Optional) #

The Snowflake 3D Printer primarily operates offline but includes a LAN port for optional network connectivity.

Follow these steps to enable and test the network connection:

1. Connect a standard Ethernet cable (RJ45) from the printer’s LAN port to your network router or switch.

2. Power on the printer and verify the link LED indicator on the LAN port is illuminated.

3. Access the printer’s settings menu to confirm network status and IP address assignment (if supported).

4. For network-based monitoring or firmware updates, ensure a stable connection to your local network.

5. Avoid Wi-Fi adapters or third-party USB network devices unless officially supported by Fracktal Works.

Step 5: Power Verification Checklist #

Before proceeding with calibration or firmware setup, verify the following:

  • ✔ The power socket is grounded and stable.
  • ✔ Voltage level is within safe operational range (220V ±10%).
  • ✔ The power cable and adapter are securely connected.
  • ✔ LCD display and fans activate upon power-up.
  • ✔ No loose cables or sparks observed during startup.

Step 6: Network Verification Checklist (if applicable) #

If network functionality is enabled, confirm the following:

  • ✔ The Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the printer and the router.
  • ✔ LAN port LED indicators show activity.
  • ✔ The printer successfully obtains an IP address (if network-enabled).
  • ✔ The router recognises the connected device.
  • ✔ Internet or local network access is stable (for updates). 

Important Notes #

• Do not modify electrical wiring or connectors without authorisation from Fracktal Works.

• Avoid using power converters or non-certified extension cables.

• Always disconnect the power supply before servicing or relocating the printer.

• In case of electrical faults, immediately power off and contact Fracktal Works support.
