Finishing & Assembly

A part off the machine is a part half made. Support removal, sanding, blasting, smoothing, paint, inserts and assembly — so what lands on your desk is the product rather than the print.

What it is

The Half of the Job Nobody Quotes For

Every process on this site leaves something behind — support scars on FDM, a granular skin on SLS, support nubs and a tacky surface on SLA. Getting from that to a part that can be handed to a customer is work, and it is work that decides what people think of the part.

We do it in-house, on the same floor as the machines, which means the finish is specified when the part is quoted rather than discovered after it ships.

Why this process

What We Can Do To a Part

Pick a level when you order and it is priced in, not added on.

Support removal & de-powdering

Standard on every part. Supports off, powder out of every internal cavity, edges cleaned.

Sanding & vapour smoothing

Progressive wet sanding, or acetone vapour on ABS and ASA for a gloss with no abrasive marks.

Bead blasting & dyeing

An even matte skin on powder-bed parts, then deep dyeing — colour through the surface, not on it.

Priming & painting

Filler-primed, wet sanded and sprayed to a RAL or Pantone reference, matte through to gloss.

Threaded inserts & hardware

Heat-set brass inserts, helicoils, bearings, magnets and dowels fitted and checked.

Assembly & function test

Sub-assemblies built, fasteners torqued, moving parts checked before anything is packed.
