In a conventional shared-carriage dual extruder both nozzles travel together, so the idle nozzle drips and drags molten plastic across the part.

IDEX lifts and parks the idle nozzle clear — cleaner parts, no cross-contamination, no stray filament threads left behind.

Dual-Colour Printing

Aesthetic and functional dual-tone parts — logos, labels and two-tone models with no manual filament changes.

Dual-Material Printing

Combine two materials in one print — flexible plus rigid, or a model plus a support material — each laid down by its own dedicated nozzle.

Soluble Supports

Print supports in PVA or a soluble material and dissolve them away, achieving complex geometries with clean, easy post-processing.

Duplication Mode

Both extruders print identical copies at the same time — double your output for production runs of the same part.

Mirror Mode

Print a part and its mirror image simultaneously — ideal for symmetrical and left/right components.

Hot-Swappable Nozzle System

Twin Dragon’s unique double-extrusion architecture — the IMEX retracting system — is the only extrusion system capable of printing with two heads truly independently, keeping the idle nozzle lifted clear of the part.

Nozzles from 0.25 mm to 1.2 mm swap in seconds, in brass, stainless and hardened steel — dial in fine detail or lay down bulk quickly, from PLA to abrasive carbon-fibre composites.

Complete Freedom of Complexity

Twin Dragon’s retracting nozzle system paired with water-soluble supports lets you go beyond what single-nozzle 3D printing allows — extremely complex geometries, internal channels and captive assemblies.

Print supports in PVA and simply wash them away, leaving clean surfaces and shapes a single nozzle could never release.
