Carving a master by hand is a week of skilled work committed before anyone knows whether the design is right. Printing it is an afternoon, and it can be printed again tomorrow with the shoulder narrowed by half a millimetre.
Scaling is the second win. A ring designed once prints in every size from the same file, without recarving any of them — and a design can be sampled in a resin nobody minds discarding before a castable master is committed to.
